Oedipus the faggot: A True Tragedy
Oedipus the King is a classic classical play written by the very talented and imaginative Sophocles. This play is labeled as a tragedy because Oedipus, unknowingly, use ups his flummox and marries his mother. In this story, I have come to find that necessity is not responsible for(p) for the tragedy that occurs. The events responsible for this tragedy argon the sum of character flaws and the actions taken by each character.
The start-off character flaw responsible for the tragedy is king and milksop of Thebes (Oedipus parents) belief in an oracle about their son. The prophecy told by this oracle said that their son would grow up to bolt down his father and marry his mother. In order to try to maintain this from happening, Iocaste and Laios pierced the pincers feet, tied them together, and instructed their servant to gift the child in the wilderness to die, which is the second character flaw. In the text, the shepherd explains everything to Oedipus. The third character flaw responsible for the tragedy is Oedipus constant desire to solve every occupation he his faced with.
In the text, Oedipus is insistent on solvent the problem of the plague. After he sends Creon to find answers, he exclaims, to that degree whenever he comes back, I should do ill/To scant whatever duty God reveals (79-80). After Creon brings him news of how to solve the problem, he tells the crowd I will do all that I can (147).
The fourth character flaw is that Oedipus killed someone. If Oedipus had not chosen to commit murder, he would not have killed his father. In the text, Oedipus explains that in the conflict where he killed the highwaymen, he was driving his chariot along, and some other chariot ran him off the road.
