The protagonist of this story is the little boy who has an older sidekick. They both feel affection for playing hockey. By chance, the boy meets with his br some other from the opposite side. The little companion believes that he can cheek his sidekick effortlessly, but once Mr. Richford and his son, who are extremely goodly at hockey, join to play together, the boy experiences the rite of the passage. The immature man couldnt do anything in the game, no social occasion how much of an endeavor he put in. Surprisingly, after he gets goal while his older brother was defending him, he became a concrete discriminate of the game. Which he, and the reader, comes to understand is now part of the larger world. The author uses the hockey, or ice, as a real society, representing the world. Readers can realize this because he said, I felt I could go forward.

The other development that I found in this story is the small frys older brother. The reader is well aware that the brother is an excellent scatter and playmaker. The game became a competition surrounded by the boy and his brother. When the brother was facing the boy, he knew that he could delineate well, but the boy scored on him, making the younger brother realize his true potential, no matter the threat. The quote, trudged home for supper, shows that the brother gave a new respect to the boy.
