Abstract This essay seeks to highlight whateverwhat of my experiences during my time spent doing community Service at the Papine utmost school. The experience there has definitely been educational and memorable. It reinforced the value I have been taught as a youngster and has rekindled some of the memories I had as a High school student. The textbook Vision and Volunteerism by author Don Robotham, is a wondrous text that puts the overview of volunteerism in Jamaica into a concise reading that is fountainhead worthy of being read. Prior to reading this text, volunteerism was a base that I was aware of but didnt pay
much prudence too. Hence, the book gave me the greater understanding to write this essay foreground events of the past and indicating the future of vision and volunteerism within the Jamaican Society.

Volunteerism is the insurance or practice of volunteering ones time or talents for charitable, educational, or some other worthwhile activities, especially in ones community. As a youngster, I have always avoided any form of volunteerism, as it seemed to be a waste of time. It seems like I was very meager with my time always finding myself busy playing cricket, going to the beach and chilling with friends.
